Incidentally, today, the Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank interacted with education secretaries of different states to discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the education sector with schools and colleges closed for nearly one year now. The objective of the meeting was to review the COVID-19 situation, online education discussion on the National Education Policy 2020.

According to an india.com report, India Wide Parents Association (IWPA) has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking cancellation of the board examinations due to the rising COVID-19 cases across the country. The students have also voiced their demands for the cancellation of the board exams on social media. Several Class 12 Board Exam 2021 candidates have taken on Twitter by using the hashtag #saveboardstudents. In the tweets, students are urging the authorities to cancel the Class 12 Board Exam 2021. Some have also suggested to evaluate them in a similar assessment criteria like the CBSE Class 10 Board Exam 2021 students. Earlier also, the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 candidates have taken on the social media to raise their concern and started a campaign on Twitter with the hashtag #cancel12thboardexams2021.

Due to the COVId-19 situation in the country, the CBSE cancelled the CBSE Class 10 Board Exam and postponed the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021. Soon after CBSE's decision, the CISCE and several other state boards resorted to similar decisions. However, with the COVID-19 scenario worsening, the students and the parents demand cancellation of the Class 12 Board Exam 2021.

The CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 was scheduled to take place from May 4, 2021 to June 14, 2021. The CBSE had also notified that a decision on the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 will be undertaken after a review of the COVID-19 situation on June 1, 2021. Recently, the CBSE had announced the assessment criteria for the CBSE Class 10 Board Exam 2021.
