Indian Railways trolls IndiGo, shares 'unique' benefits on Twitter, gets trolled itself!

Despite all its own shortcomings, the humble Railways on Monday teased flight operators like IndiGo while trying to lure people to board its trains.

Why opt for something that keeps emptying your wallet at every given opportunity? Why not just go for the tried-and-tested humble options? Why get on flights when you can take a train? Try to find out any logic in all of these statements. Can you? Well, Indian Railways can!

Despite all its own shortcomings, the humble Railways on Monday teased flight operators like IndiGo while trying to lure people to board its trains. "No need to pay extra charges for Web-Checkins. No long queues for checking in your luggage. Avoid unreasonable tariff & reduce your carbon footprint by travelling on the good old Indian Railways at affordable rates," Railways tweeted from its official Twitter handle.

It would have been pleasant for people had such a tweet been posted by any of the airlines operating in the country. But then, coming from Railways, it was a surprise for many. Users immediately started connecting the Railways' tweet with flight operators like IndiGo - the airline which has started charging for booking seats at the time of web check-in.

Users pointed out the high fares in Rajdhani, dirty blankets in trains, lack of cleanliness, lack of punctuality and many more instances where Railways has fallen very short of acceptable standards.

There were many users who pointed out the Railways shortcomings, trolling it for poor services. One of the users wondered, "Really Has our railway capable to mock #Indigo ? Dead sure this bet will go against Railway".

Meanwhile, the government has said it is reviewing airlines' decision to charge passengers for any of the seats selected at the time of web check-in to ascertain whether the move is in compliance with existing rules.

IndiGo is levying charges for web check-in from November 14. As per the IndiGo's revised policy, all seats are chargeable for web check-in. "Alternatively you may check-in at the airport for free. Seats will be assigned as per the availability," the airline had tweeted earlier.

All the three listed carriers -- IndiGo, SpiceJet and Jet Airways -- were in the red in the quarter ending September. IndiGo had reported a loss at Rs 651 crore in the three months ending September.
