How market performed? Nifty Realty, Nifty PSU Bank top gainers among sectoral indices as Sensex, Nifty end shy of all-time highs; PNB, SBI, DLF end higher

Nifty Realty and PSU Bank were the top gainers among sectoral indices on Thursday gaining by over 3.3% and 2.4% respectively. While Nifty Realty ended at 361, Nifty PSU Bank closed at 2,487.65

Nifty Realty and PSU Bank were the top gainers among sectoral indices on Thursday gaining by over 3.3 per cent and 2.4 per cent respectively. While Nifty Realty ended at 361 Nifty PSU Bank closed at 2,487.65. After two consecutive days of negative closings the stock markets today ended on a high with Sensex and Nifty 50 closing just shy of their all-time high of 52,329 and 15,752 respectively.

Among the PSU Banks, PNB was the top gainer ending at 42.55, up by almost 5 per cent. Bank of Baroda was the next bigger gainer as stocks were up 3.5 per cent. Index heavy weight SBI also gained 2.6 per cent closing at Rs 432.20.

In the 10-share Nifty Realty index, 9 stocks advanced while 1 declined. India Bulls Real Estate was the biggest gainer closing at Rs 112.95 or 7.4 per cent higher from the previous closing price on Wednesday. DLF was also up 5.6 per cent ending at Rs 314.60. Godrej Properties ended up over 2 per cent at Rs 1435.25.

Stock Market Overview:

The BSE Sensex closed at 52,300.47, up by almost 0.7 per cent or almost 358 points. Meanwhile, the broader market NSE Nifty 50 closed at 15,737.75, going down by just over 102 points or almost 0.7 per cent.

In the 30 share BSE Sensex, 23 stocks were trading in the green at the end of Thursday’s trading session while the remaining 7 stocks were trading in the red. The top 5 gainers on Thursday at close were Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, SBI, Indusind Bank and Dr Reddy’s Lab while the top 5 losers were Bajaj Auto, Maruti Suzuki, HCL Technologies, Ultratech Cement and Power Grid.

Meanwhile in the 50-share NSE Nifty 50, at the closing time 34 shares advanced, 39 shares declined while 1 stock remained unchanged Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, SBI, Divis Lab and Indusind Bank were the top 5 gainers. The top 5 losers in the day’s trade were Bajaj Auto, Eicher Motors, UPL, Adani Ports and Shree Cement.

All major indices including Nifty Midcap 50, Nifty Bank and Nifty Financial Services ended the day in the green.
