SBI Alert – Account holders of State Bank of India (SBI), you must know that fraudsters are on lookout for vulnerable people who can be conned into giving their personal bank details. India’s largest public lender keeps issuing warnings to its account holders warning them of potential threats. It recently warned the customers regarding bogus apps that could lead to massive losses if installed without due verification.

SBI tweeted warning customers about this prevalent fraud practice. This is what the bank says.
“Do not download any App on your mobile phones based on advice of unknown persons,” SBI said on its official Twitter handle @TheOfficialSBI.
“It is possible that messages including OTP/PIN/CVV may be read remotely,” it warns.

SBI has also offered a useful tip which say that “Download Apps only from verified sources. Do not download any app on the advice of unknown persons.”
This quick security tip will be useful in preventing your sensitive financial and personal data.
The state-run bank had also recently warned the customers about the QR code related fraud. Never scan a QR Code if somebody is luring you with a promise of sending money into your accounts by Scanning the QR Code. India’s largest public sector bank SBI has also recently warned its customers to not fall prey to any such offers where somebody is offering you money by asking you to scan QR Code.
You can lose all the money present in your account if you do so.
SBI asks users to not scan any QR code to avoid getting frauded. The bank says that you don’t receive money by scanning a QR code. Unless your purpose is to pay money, never scan a QR code.
Know in what all ways fraudsters may try to cheat you:
- In the times of Coronavirus pandemic, when people are looking for essential medicines and other health-related services, fraudsters are luring people by promising life-saving medicines and other things. They are asking people to transfer money in lieu of these medicines and products. SBI has said that it has come to its notice that these things are happening.
- It has also come into the notice of SBI that certain unknow persons are attempting to defraud the general public by offering loans from non-existing entities in the name of SBI Loan Finance Ltd. or any such entities and the persons offering loans are not authorized to do so. SBI has advised its customers not to remit any processing or registration fee to the said entity. It is not associated with SBI Loan Finance Ltd.
What not to do
- Do not share your confidential details like your date of birth, debit or credit card details, internet user id and password.
- Beware of persons calling in disguise of officials from SBI, RBI, government office or KYC authority.
- Avoid clicking attachments in emails from unknown source.
- Avoid downloading apps from unknown sources.
