Samsung UV sterilizer review: This small box can help make all your things germ free
Samsung UV sterilizer review: Several companies have come out with their sterilizers that can help clean your products within minutes. And, we have been using one such box from Samsung for more than a week now. It’s time to find out if it makes sense to spend Rs 3,599 on this box or not.
Samsung UV sterilizer review: We are living in a time when staying fit and healthy is more important than ever before. While you can wear masks, sanitize hands and more, gadgets and other items at home remain at risk. I have seen videos of people using sanitizers or wet clothes to clean their smartphones and other gadgets. There is no guarantee how effective these are. At the same time, there is a risk of damaging the product if it doesn’t come with an IP rating.
What’s the alternative? UV Sterilizers. Several companies have come out with their sterilizers that can help clean your products within minutes. And, we have been using one such box from Samsung for more than a week now. It’s time to find out if it makes sense to spend Rs 3,599 on this box or not.

Samsung UV sterilizer review
The Samsung UV sterilizer is a very compact and extremely lightweight white-coloured box which can be placed on your workstation or coffee table in the living room. It doesn’t require much space and blends in well with the surroundings because of the universally accepted colour scheme.
The design is very simple with a power button and LED light on the front. The inner base is like a tray where you can place the items that need to be sterilized. Despite the compact form factor, the box is big enough to store large size smartphones and other items. In fact, you can place more than one item at the same time.
The sterilizer is very easy to use. You simply need to place your items inside the box and press the button. A beep sound and green light will confirm the sanitization process. After 10 minutes, the box automatically turns off, confirming that the items have been sterilized. Now, while the process is as seamless as claimed by Samsung, there is no way to find out to what extent have the germs been killed.
The company claims that this box is capable of killing up to 99 per cent bacteria and germs, including E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans, according to tests done by two independent test and certification institutes, Intertek and SGS.
What’s impressive is that wireless charging works even you place a device for sanitization process. The UV Sterilizer was manufactured by Samsung C&T, a partner of the Samsung Mobile Accessory Partnership Program(SMAPP), and is available via select online and retail stores.
The company also clarifies that level of disinfection may vary by area of the item depending on various factors such as UV exposure time, length of UV light to reach surface of item, and others. For the best results, you should sterilize from one side and then flip the product.
Samsung UV sterilizer review: Should You Buy?
Given that staying healthy and avoiding contact with germs should be our primary goal for the next few months, it makes a lot of sense to spend a low amount of Rs 3,599 on a UV sterilizer. Even when things return to normal, you can carry it around while travelling to sterilize various items.
