Mercedes-Benz India announces price hike for select models in response to rising operational costs

The price hike will range from Rs 60,000 for the C-Class to Rs 2.6 lakh for a GLS SUV and up to Rs 3.4 lakh for the top-end imported Mercedes-Maybach S 680.

In a strategic move to navigate escalating operational expenses, Mercedes-Benz India has increased the ex-showroom prices of select models, effective January 1, 2024. The luxury car manufacturer cites a confluence of factors, including surging input costs, commodity costs, and logistics expenses, exacerbated by inflationary pressures, as the driving forces behind this decision.

The company acknowledges the significant impact of these cost inflations on its overall business operations, compelling the need for a price correction to ensure sustained profitability for both Mercedes-Benz and its franchise partners.

Despite absorbing a considerable portion of the escalating operational costs internally, Mercedes-Benz deems it necessary to pass on a marginal share of the burden to the market.
The price adjustment will affect a range of select models, with an increase of up to 2 per cent on the ex-showroom prices.

The specific price adjustments will range from Rs. 2.6 lakh for GLS SUV to Rs. 3.4 lakhs for the top-end imported Mercedes-Maybach S 680. The move is positioned as a strategic measure to strike a balance between sustaining profitability and delivering unparalleled luxury to its discerning customer base.
