Year Ender 2021: EV launches that grabbed eyeballs this year - Tata Tigor EV, MG ZS EV, Tata Nexon EV Dark, BMW iX electric SUV

Year Ender 2021: The year 2021 was electrifying for the automobile industry. The country witnessed a huge range of electric vehicles from scooters, sedans to SUVs from the automobile industry. Starting from Tata Tigor EV to BMW iX electric SUV, these cars and SUVs grabbed the maximum eyeballs this year.

Brands like Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra have already taken the driver's seat enabling a shift to electric mode at the moment. Similarly, auto players like MG Motors, Hyundai and others are also marking their presence with their electric vehicle launches this year.

Tata Nexon EV Dark

Tata Nexon EV Dark

Launched on 7 July, the Nexon EV Dark theme is available on the Nexon EV XZ+ and the XZ+ LUX variant. These variants adorn a premium Midnight Black exterior colour with Satin Black humanity line and beltline, Dark mascot and an all-new Charcoal Grey alloy wheels. The interiors of the car are also accentuated with a dash of Dark themed glossy piano Black mid-pad with premium dark-themed leatherette upholstery with Tri-arrow perforations on seats and door trims, highlighted by EV Blue stitches (on the seats) and leatherette wrapped steering wheel. The car has got iTPMS (Tyre pressure monitoring system). Additionally, the Nexon EV XZ+ variant also has a rear seat central armrest with cup-holders, 60:40 rear seat split and adjustable rear seat headrests. Source: Website

MG ZS EV

MG ZS EV

Launched on 8 February, MG Motor India's new ZS EV 2021 is priced at Rs 20.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The updated version comes with a best-in-class 44.5 kWh Hi-Tech battery and has a certified range of 419 KM. Equipped with new 215/55/R17 tyres, the vehicle and battery-pack ground clearances have been increased to 177 mm and 205 mm, respectively. Having expanded the charging ecosystem across the country with its partners, the ZS EV 2021 has now been made available for bookings in 31 cities. The car was initially launched in 5 cities during its launch in January 2020.

The MG ZS EV comes with 143 PS power and 350 Nm torque and can reach from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.5 seconds. It is available in two variants – Excite & Exclusive. As India’s first pure electric internet SUV, it adopts MG signature global design cues and comes loaded with features such as a panoramic sunroof, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, PM 2.5 Filter, and more. Source: Website

BMW iX electric SUV

BMW iX electric SUV

BMW launched the iX electric SUV in India at a price of Rs 1.16 crore (ex-showroom). The Group launched the BMW iX SUV in India as India's first BMW electric all-wheel-drive vehicle (SAV – Sports Activity Vehicle). The car will be available as a completely built-up unit (CBU) and can be booked through BMW dealerships across major metropolitan cities. The deliveries will start by April 2022. The BMW iX gets the fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology featuring two electric motors for the front and rear axles, with an output of 326 hp. Source: Website

Tata Tigor EV

Tata Tigor EV

Launched on 31st August, Tata Motors' new Tigor EV comes with Ziptron technology with an ARAI-certified range of 306 kms. The new Tigor EV is available in 3 trim options – XE, XM, XZ+ (XZ+ Dual Tone option available). The ex-showroom India prices for the Tigor EV XE is Rs 11.99 lakh, for Tigor EV XM, the price is Rs 12.49 lakh and the Tigor EV XZ+ will cost Rs 12.99 lakh. The price for the Dual-Tone option is Rs 13.14 lakhs.
