Hyundai car prices set to be hiked soon

Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) today said it will increase prices of its vehicles across model range by up to 2 per cent from June to offset rising input costs. The price hike will be applicable on all the Hyundai vehicles except for newly-launched SUV Creta, reported PTI.

Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) today said it will increase prices of its vehicles across model range by up to 2 per cent from June to offset rising input costs. The price hike will be applicable on all the Hyundai vehicles except for newly-launched SUV Creta, reported PTI.

At present, HMIL sells a range of vehicles from entry-level small car Eon at a starting price of Rs 3.3 lakh to premium SUV Tucson priced up to Rs 25.44 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The company also launched the new Creta facelift priced at Rs at Rs 9.44 lakh yesterday, while the diesel version starts at Rs 9.99 lakh.

"We have been absorbing the increase in input costs with increase in commodity prices, freight increase with hike in fuel prices and also the increase in custom duties of certain components," said HMIL Director - Sales & Marketing Rakesh Srivastava while commenting on the price hike. "We are now constrained to pass the same to customers in our products with an increase up to 2 per cent from June 2018," he added.

In January this year, Hyundai had earlier increased the prices of its cars by 2 per cent. Hyundai India had protected the price of the newly-launched Verna for the first 20,000 customers in September, last year when the GST cess was revised. The company did not charge for any extra GST untill the beginning of 2018.
