Vodafone to invest over Rs 500 crore in Gujarat to expand 4G services
Within a day of Reliance Jio announcing the launch of its much-talked about 4G services with dirt-cheap tariffs, Vodafone on Friday said it will invest more than Rs 500 crore to expand its 4G services in Gujarat.
Announcing the launch of Vodafone SuperNet 4G services in Surat, Vodafone India MD and chief executive Sunil Sood said, "the company has invested about Rs 541 crore in Gujarat, and will invest a similar amount this year towards network expansion."
Sood said the company will roll out the 4G services across the state over the next few months. The Gujarat launch follows successful launches of 4G services in Kerala, Karnataka, Kolkata, Delhi & NCR, Mumbai, Haryana & UP East.

Built on the more efficient 1,800 MHz band, this network will enable the 4G customers access the Internet with higher speed.
"As a steadfast partner to Digital India drive, we are delighted to launch Vodafone 4G in Gujarat during this second phase of our 4G rollout," he said, adding the next destination will be Bengal and 1,000 towns across the country by the end of the year.
Vodafone's global expertise and experience of launching 4G across 20 countries gives us a better understanding of this technology and the needs of the 4G customer, said Sood.
