PM Modi inaugurates Shivamogga airport: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, February 27 inaugurated the Shivamogga airport with a lotus-shaped terminal in Karnataka. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa were also present during the inauguration.

Shivamogga airport inauguration
The inauguration event of the airport coincided with Karnataka BJP strongman and former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa's 80th birthday. Shivamogga is the home district of Yediyurappa, a four-time Chief Minister.

The development cost of the newly inaugurated airport is around Rs 450 crore. Also, the airport's passenger terminal building can handle 300 passengers per hour.

The airport is expected to improve connectivity and accessibility from Shivamogga and other neighbouring areas in the Malnad region of Karnataka.
