ICAI ARF launches "accounts assistant scheme" as pilot project in Himachal Pradesh

In line with the government's national education policy which focuses more on skill development rather than theoretical education, the core research body of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India - ICAI ARF launched "accounts assistant scheme" as pilot project in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday.

In line with the government's national education policy which focuses more on skill development rather than theoretical education, the core research body of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India - ICAI ARF launched "accounts assistant scheme" as pilot project in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday. Under this scheme 200 eligible students will be enrolled for six months training. Students who are graduates with the minimum age of 21, will be shortlisted on the basis of screening test. According to the president of ICAI, Atul Gupta, this scheme will provide 100% placements for the candidates in msme sector majorly along with other professional companies.

The above training will help students in developing their skill sets in the subject of accounting, tax compliances and related topics and to develop expertise on book-keeping, GST and income tax compliances
The scheme may be offered jointly with an NGO/Trust, to mobilise youth at the ground level, as per ICAI's release.

"As this Scheme is being monitored & evaluated by ICAI, the premier accountancy body of India, it has more credibility and the students who will clear this scheme shall get the chance to intern with experience CAs, organisations etc. The experience gained by the students would help them to get jobs locally & through ICAI job portal, they will have ample career opportunities,” minister of state for finance, Anurag Thakur said.

The 6-month training will cost a student Rs 3,540 plus taxes besides admission and examination fee. It will be a residential programme but emphasis will be given on online training due to covid19 pandemic.
Based on the successful pilot project, the scheme will be implemented pan-India.
