76 new Mumbai locals post monsoon to ease commuter troubles
Central and Western railways of Mumbai will introduce up to 76 new services starting from stations like Bandra, Dadar and Kurla post the monsoon season.
With the Central railways (CR) to add up to 40 new services, the Western railway (WR) will include 36 new services as trains start from these stations instead of Churchgate to cater to working class.
Ministry of Railways, Suresh Prabhu on Moday tweeted that there would be as many as 40 new services on Mumbai Western and Central rail lines from October 2 with a new time table.

Mumbai division of the CR and WR boards have already presented their plan to Mohammad Jamshed of the board of Indian Railways’ policy making body.
Dadar and Kurla are some of the most crowded platforms on the Mumbai local train tracks.
The new WR services would have 15-coach train that can carry 25% more passengers than 12-coach trains.

The total number of trains on the suburban railway lines amounted to 2,900 with more than 85 lakh commuters daily users.

To improve convenience on the outstation train coaches as well the Indian railways were mulling a major makeover for the trains which would include, USB charging ports, reading lights for all berths, comfortable ladders, are few of the changes the trains will be witnessing soon.
The railways is also awaiting Railway Ministry’s final nod on Humsafar Express which will be the new ‘luxury’ train for travellers in the AC compartment.
