7th pay commission: These government employees will have something really great to celebrate during the festival of lights, Diwali! Their pay hike has been finally cleared by the government! government's decision and it is likely to benefit 19 lakh employees across the state. Notably, the Maharashtra government has today announced that its employees will get a pay hike from Diwali this year. However, there is no word from the government on central government employees minimum salary hike by the Centre.
The Maharashtra government had reportedly made provisions of Rs 10,000 crore in its annual budget presented in March this year. The implementation of the 7th Pay Commission in the state will put financial burden of Rs 21,530 crore on the state exchequer. The government is also considering grant of child care leave (CCL) to women government employees for two years (730 days) and 15 days paternal leave for male employees. Besides that, the government is also considering a five-day week working system for its employees, PTI reported. For making 5-day working week, the government may increase working hours by 15 minutes.
Though the good news came from Maharashtra finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, there is no development on the central government employees pay hike. The central government employee are demanding for minimum pay and fitment factor hike for long. The say the hike given under the 7th Pay Commission is not adequate, as inflation has gone up substantially. They want a hike by a fitment factor of 3.68 times rather than 2.57 times. Cenral government employees want minimum salaries to start at Rs 26,000.
