Yesterday, the SKM said in an official statement, "It was on September 27th that President Shri Ram Nath Kovind assented to and brought into force the 3 anti-farmer black laws last year. Tomorrow, there will be a total Bharat Bandh observed around the country from 6 AM to 4 PM."
According to an ANI report, the SKM has said that during the period of the strike from 6 AM to 4 PM today, all government and private offices will be closed throughout the country. The SKM further said that during this period, educational and other institutions, shops, industries and commercial establishments as well as public events and functions will be closed across the country.
However, the SKM has further stated that the exemption to the bandh include all emergency establishments and essential services, including hospitals, medical stores, relief and rescue work and people attending to personal emergencies.
While speaking to ANI, SKM leader Rakesh Tikait said, "The roads will be closed but if someone wants to go to the doctor's clinic, they can go. Ambulances, vegetable and milk vehicles will run. Apart from that, everything will be closed. All the traders and shopkeepers should support the bandh."
According to an IANS report, the security arrangements across the peripheries of the national capital were beefed up in the wake Bharat Bandh on Monday to mark one year of the passage of the Centre`s three contentious farm laws.
The IANS report further stated that the SKM had said public and private transport shall also come to a halt during this period, however, as per initial reports, public transport, including the Delhi Metro, were seen functional.
