BMC issues guidelines for Ganesh Chaturthi; physical pandal darshan prohibited- check other norms here
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued new guidelines for Ganesh Chaturthi. As per the guidelines, devotees will not be able to physically visit pandals in Mumbai and will have to take Lord Ganesha's blessings online.
People living in Mumbai will not be able to physically visit the pandals this year on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi which will be celebrated across the country on Friday, September 10.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued new guidelines for Ganesh Chaturthi. As per the guidelines, devotees will not be able to physically visit pandals in Mumbai and will have to take Lord Ganesha's blessings online.
The guideline has been issued by BMC considering the threat of third wave of Covid-19 pandemic in the country and many public committees were giving passes to Ganpati devotees for darshan.

According to the new guideline, only 10 people from the public committeeor mandals who have taken both (first and second) doses of the Covid-19 vaccine can be a part of Lord Ganesha's arrival and immersion. Also, these 10 people should have completed 15 days after taking the second dose.
If you are placing Lord Ganesha's idol in the house, then only those 5 members of the family who have taken both the doses of the vaccine and have completed 15 days from the second dose can be a part of arrival and immersion of the idol.
Instructions have been given to hand over Lord Ganesha's idol to BMC official for immersion at collection centre, artificial lake or natural immersion site after completing the rituals at pandals or at home. It can be noted that you cannot do immersion of the idol yourself.
As per the information, BMC will build 173 artificial lakes for immersion in 24 wards in the city. Children and the elderly are prohibited from going at the immersion point.
Also, the vehicle which will be used for Lord Ganesha's arrival or immersion has been forbidden to stop for darshan on the road.
It is forbidden to take all the idols of the building or slum together in the same vehicle for immersion. Only 5 fully vaccinated people will be allowed in the vehicle used for immersion.
The public committees from the containment zone will have to do the immersion in the pandal itself or will have to postpone it. While people will have to do idol immersion at home in sealed building. It can be noted that action will be taken for breaking the guidelines.
