COVID-19: Property Tax WAIVED in Gujarat for multiplexes, cinema halls, gyms due to pandemic
There is some good news for the owners of cinema houses, multiplexes and gymnasiums in Gujarat as on Tuesday, the Gujarat government has decided to completely waive the property tax for cinema houses, multiplexes and gymnasiums, for a period of one year from April 1, 2021, till March 31, 2021.
Gujarat COVID-19 Update: There is some good news for the owners of cinema houses, multiplexes and gymnasiums in Gujarat as on Tuesday, the Gujarat government has decided to completely waive the property tax for cinema houses, multiplexes and gymnasiums, for a period of one year from April 1, 2021, till March 31, 2021. The Chief Minister's Office said that this decision has been taken keeping in view the COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision to completely waive property tax waiver for one year for cinema houses, multiplexes and gymnasiums due to the coronavirus pandemic was taken in a core committee meeting which was chaired by the Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. The decision was announced through a tweet from the Chief Minister's Office. The tweet from the official twitter handle of CMO Gujarat said, "In a major relief to the Cinema Halls, Multiplexes and Gymnasiums impacted by the Corona pandemic in the State, CM Shri @vijayrupanibjp announces a complete waiver of Property Tax and Fix Charges on Electricity Bills for one year between April 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022."

Earlier, on Monday, the Gujarat government also announced property tax waiver for one year for hotels, resorts, restaurants and water parks because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The CMO Gujarat also tweeted about this decision from its official Twitter handle. The tweet said, "In a sensitive gesture, CM Shri @vijayrupanibjp decides to waive-off property tax as well as fixed charge in electricity bills of hotels, resorts, restaurants and water parks affected by Corona pandemic for one year i.e., from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 in the State."

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown, several businesses have been adversely affected. This decision by the Gujarat government of waiving the property tax and fix charges on electricity bills is expected to provide some relief for the owners of the businesses.
As per the COVID-19 portal of the Gujarat government, at present there are 14724 active cases. 91879 people are under quarantine and the state has recorded 9952 total deaths.
