Indian equity markets on Tuesday bounced back before closing for the day on short covering and value buying.
BSE Sensex closed at 26,213.44, up 406.34 points, or 1.57%. While NSE Nifty ended at 8,032.85, up 124.60 points, or 1.58%.

On 30-share benchmark, among top gainers were ITC (3.62%), Lupin (2.55%), Tata Steel (2.50%), Adani Ports (2.27%) and Wipro (1.85%). Among top loser was Gail (-0.74%).
Sector-wise, FMCG, Metal and Consumer Durables were trading in green by 2.30%, 2.05% and 1.88% respectively. S&P BSE mid Cap was trading at 11,685.79, up 179.96 points, or 1.56%.
On Monday, the domestic markets bleeded after Prime Minister Narendra Modi remark on "long-term capital gains tax".
