Infosys, TCS, Tata Motors, M&M among 12 Indian firms under Fortune's best regarded companies list; Govt's GIC Re, SAIL also bag spot
Interestingly, Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services were among top 50 in the 2018 list.
A company’s reputation for being trustworthy and fair is everything. Guess what! Fortune magazine has identified 12 Indian firms under the best regarded companies 2018 list. Among the list, Tata Group's three subsidiary bagged a spot, while government's two firm were also added. Interestingly, Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services were among top 50 in the 2018 list.
Infosys stood at 31 spot with market cap of $38.3 billion. The company was behind Japan's Yamaha, while ahead then US-based FedEx.
Meanwhile TCS was ahead of US-based PepsiCo, however, right behind Elon Musk's Tesla. TCS was at 35th spot having a market cap of $98.4 billion.

Next would be Tata Motors on 70th spot having a market cap of $16.8 billion. Tata Motors surpassed Japan's Suzuki Motor which stood at 71 rank.
Going ahead, another Tata was in the list as well. Tata Steel stood at 131th rank having market cap of $10.2 billion. Just few ranks after Tata Steel was Larsen & Toubro at 135th rank having market cap of $28.9 billion.
On 154th rank was Aditya Birla's Grasim Industries having market cap of $10.7 billion.
Government's General Insurance Corporation Of India (GIC Re) was at 156th rank with market cap of $8.9 billion. It was followed by Mahindra & Mahindra on 164th rank having market cap of $16.1 billion.
FMCG player Asian Paint was also in list on 203rd rank with market valuation of $18.4 billion. Then was NBFC giant Housing Development Finance Corp (HDFC) at 217th rank having market cap of $47.9 billion.
Another government owned company was Steel Authority of India (SAIL) at 227th rank with market cap of $4.5 billion.
Lastly, it was cigeratte-maker ITC on 239th rank having market cap of $51.5 billion.
This year, it was Walt Disney on top rank with a market cap of $165 billion, moved up four spots from Fortune's inaugural list in 2017.
Italian carmaker Ferrari is ranked No.3 this year, up five spots. While Siemens, the top ranked firm in 2017, drops to No. 7 this year.
Rounding out the ten in 2018 are hotel companies Hilton (No. 2) and Marriott International (No. 9), financial services companies Visa (No. 4) and Mastercard (No. 10), digital payment company PayPal (No. 5), media company Netflix (No. 6) and internet retailer Amazon.com (No. 8).
While US companies dominated the list with 61 of the total 250 companies. This was followed by Japan having 32 companies on the list. Video game maker Nintendo is the highest ranked Japanese company at No. 11, with Toyota at No. 12. Other well-represented countries are China with 19 companies, France with 13 and Germany with 11.
