MG Motor partners IIT-Delhi for in-car child safety app

MG Motor India and IIT-Delhi have entered into a partnership to develop in-car child safety applications. An IIT-Delhi team is reportedly working on a project to develop an application for geofencing for child safety through ECU control

MG Motor India and IIT-Delhi have entered into a partnership to develop in-car child safety applications. An IIT-Delhi team is reportedly working on a project to develop an application for geofencing for child safety through ECU control. This is good news for parents who can't accompany their children to schools or tutions due to their professional obligations. However, the report did not reveal the timeline when the application will be completed.

The application will enable upcoming MG car owners to track and alert the whereabouts of their children while travelling in a car. This will also track their entry and exit as well as their seating position in car. Besides that, the application will also alert if the car is going beyond a pre-defined route map.

"This project has been conceptualised to fast-track realisation of better child safety mechanisms in cars. IIT Delhi engineers will also conduct research and development activities to explore other car features that enhance child safety," MG Motor India President & Managing Director Rajeev Chaba was quoted as saying. Once the application is developed, it will help working parents track their children while in a car, ensuring better safety for their wards. In metro cities often both the parents are working and they can't accompany their children to schools. This app will help them keep track of their children.

MG Motor is a UK-based carmaker which came into existence in the 1920s.
