PM Modi, Obama discuss work on 6 nuclear reactors in India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on his fourth leg of five-nation tour, met President Barack Obama in US on Tuesday evening.

Sharing the glimpse of Modi's "warm meeting" with Obama, Vikas Swarup, Spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs tweeted: "The warmth of a friendship that endures. PM @narendramodi & President @BarackObama greet each other".

After the talks, Modi and Obama in the joint statement welcomed the start of preparatory work on construction of six Westinghouse Nuclear Reactors in India. They confirmed Nuclear Power Corporation of India and Westinghouse will finalize contractual arrangements by June 2017, said Reuters.
Swarup tweeted that, Obama said, "India is a young country and we are aware of the talent it has. We will continue to work together in the future too.India and US are the largest democracies in the world. Our wider cooperation will be helpful for developing countries of the world".
He also tweeted that Modi said "We discussed how to take economic ties to new heights", after talks with Obama.
