Relief from train delays: Railways linking trains to a satellite network of ISRO

Indian Railways passengers often face train delays and the same has been happening for decades. Now, they may get some much-needed relief and that too very soon. The national transporter is introducing technology from Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and linking its trains to a satellite network to collect real-time updates. This is expected to ensure trains are on time.

Indian Railways' trains often run late due to heavy traffic on tracks and other technical reasons. Union Minister Piyush Goyal gave the good news on Twitter by posting this message today, "Now Get Relief from Train Delays: In a game-changing move, Railways is linking its trains to a satellite network of @ISRO to collect real-time updates on the train, making sure the train is on time through an accurate and efficient system".

Indian Railways in recent times has taken up various modernisation drives such as laying new tracks, replacing traditional toilets with bio-toilets, WiFi at stations, improvement in signaling systems, among others. Railways also introduced some high-speed trains such as Tejas Express, and Vande Bharat Express (Train 18).

The national transporter is also upgrading its stations and restrooms to international standards, modifying rail coaches of trains and even beautifying stations with artwork to give passengers a better travel experience.
