Stock Market Today: BSE Sensex climbs 39K, Nifty rises 91 points; Bharti Airtel, IndusInd Bank shares gain

Stock Market Today: Amid strong global indicators, the Indian indices closed in the green zone after the closing bell today.

Stock Market Today: Amid strong global indicators, the Indian indices closed in the green zone after the closing bell today. The BSE Sensex shot up 287 points and closed at 39,044 levels while the NSE Nifty surged 81 points and closed at 11,521 levels. Bank Nifty skyrocketed 364 points and closed at 22,465 mark. Healthcare, telecom, banking and finance stocks were among the leading gainers after the closing bell today.

Speaking on the current stock market trends; SEBI registered technical stock analyst Simi Bhaumik said, "Overall the market is bullish and the NSE Nifty is facing strong hurdle at 11,550. Once it clears this level, then the markets can go up to 11,750 to 11,800 levels."

Shares of IDFC, Aegis Logistics, Vinati Organics, Trent, Radico Khaitan, LA Opala RG, Prism Johnson, Hexaware Technologie and Birla Corporation were among the major gainers after teh closing bell today while shares of Take Solutions, Blue Dart Expres, WABCO India, Sunteck Realty, VIP Industries, PVR, UCO Bank, ITI and Magma Fincorp were among the leading losers after the stock market closing bell today.

Telecom stocks led the bull run on Dalal Street today as the BSE Telecom index shot up to the tune of 1.94 per cent. Telecom major Bharti Airtel share price skyrocketed 2.33 per cent, Optiemus Infracom shares jumped 4.93 per cent, shares of Reliance Communications soared 4.93 per cent, Tejas Networks stock price rose 4.99 per cent while Vodafone Idea share price added 1.56 per cent.

Banking stocks also witnessed some fresh buying throughout the intraday trade. BSE Banking logged 1.73 per cent rise after the closing bell today. Banking major IndusInd Bank share price skyrocketed 4.89 per cent, Axis Bank went northward 2.45 per cent, ICICI Bank share went northward 2.30 per cent while shares of HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Federal Bank rose to the tune of near 1.5 per cent.

Among the major Asian indices, the Japanese Nikkei shed 0.44 per cent, Kospi rose 0.65 per cent, Hang Seng rose 0.38 per cent while Shanghai index went up 0.64 per cent after the closing bell.

At Wall Street yesterday, Dow Jones skyrocketed 1.18 per cent, Nasdaq shot up 1.87 per cent, Small Cap 2000 zoomed 2.71 per cent while S&P 500 jumped 1.27 per cent.
