WOW! Oscillation Trial: 180km per hour—WATCH new AC-3 tier coach clocks lightning speed

Indian Railways had recently unveiled prototype of new AC-3 tier coaches with modern amenities and one that has been designed to support higher speed. The new coach can carry more passengers as the number of berths have been increased from 72 to 83.

Indian Railways had recently unveiled prototype of new AC-3 tier coaches with modern amenities and one that has been designed to support higher speed. The new coach can carry more passengers as the number of berths have been increased from 72 to 83. This coach was rolled out from Rail Coach Factory (RCF) Kapurthala to Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO), Lucknow for upcoming trials.

In the latest development, the railways successfully conducted oscillation trial of the new AC-3 tier coach. The new AC-3 coach clocked 180 km per hour speed in fully loaded condition. Trial was conducted at 180 kmph in Kota - Sawai Madhopur section in loaded condition," said Ministry of Railways in a tweet, attaching the video. The video shows the coach passing Kota - Sawai Madhopur section with lightning speed.

Informing about the oscillation trial, the Ministry of Railways tweeted, " New AC 3-Tier coaches with modern facilities have been built. These coaches have been designed in an innovative way having capacity of 83 berths. Trial was conducted at 180 kmph in Kota - Sawai Madhopur section in loaded condition."

This facility by the Indian Railways is being touted as the cheapest and best AC travel in the world. The price of ticket of these train coaches will be much cheaper than the regular 3 AC-tier. It is said that it will be somewhere in between current AC three-tier and non-AC sleeper class.

"Many innovations have been incorporated in the design of the coach and the high voltage electric switchgear currently installed on board has been shifted below the under frame, thereby increasing the passenger capacity by introducing 11 additional berths, said the Indian Railways in a statement.

The Railways also stated that each coach is provided with a wider and one disabled friendly toilet entry door which is a new initiative.

“Several design improvements have also been made for improving passenger comfort like redesigning the AC ducting to provide individual vents for each berth,” it said.
