Stock Markets Performance News Today: The stock markets on Wednesday ended the day in the red. Both the BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty 50 fell almost 0.5 per cent today. While the Sensex ended at 52,501.98 falling by over 271 points, the broader market Nifty 50 closed at 15,794.65. It was down by almost 74 points from the previous closing on Tuesday

Stock Markets Performance News Today: The stock markets on Wednesday ended the day in the red. Both the BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty 50 fell almost 0.5 per cent today. While the Sensex ended at 52,501.98 falling by over 271 points, the broader market Nifty 50 closed at 15,794.65. It was down by almost 74 points from the previous closing on Tuesday.  

In the 30 share BSE Sensex, only 8 stocks were trading in the green at the end of Wednesday’s trading session while the remaining 22 stocks were trading in the red. The top five gainers on Wednesday at the close were Nestle India, NTPC, ONGC, Bajaj Finserv and Hindustan Unilever while the top 5 losers were Power Grid, Indusind Bank, Reliance Industries, Larsen & Toubro and Ultratech Cement Company.

Meanwhile, in the 50-share NSE Nifty 50, at the closing time, 19 shares advanced while the remaining 30 declined and 1 stock remained unchanged. Nestle India, Tata Consumer, ONGC, Bajaj Finserv and Mahindra & Mahindra were the top 5 gainers. The top 5 losers in the day’s trade were Adani Ports, Hindalco Industries, Tata Steel, Power Grid and JSW Steel.
   
Major indices including Nifty Midcap 50, Nifty Next 50, Nifty Bank and Nifty Financial Services ended the day in the red.    
   
Nifty Indices    
-Among the sectoral indices, Nifty Bank ended 0.7 per cent down at 35,003.50  
-Nifty auto was down 0.8 per cent at 10,669.45
-Nifty FMCG and Nifty IT ended in the green.  
-Nifty PSU Bank ended at 2,457.25, down by over 1 per cent.  
-Nifty Metal, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Media ended in the red on Wednesday. 
- Nifty Metal was down 2.8 per cent while Nifty Media was down over 1 per cent. 
-  Nifty Pharma was down over 0.7 per cent    
   
Today, the USDINR futures were trading at 73.4125 on the BSE against the USD at 4:10. They were trading almost flat with a negative bias.
