Stock Market Holidays in October 2023, Stock Market Today Holiday: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) will remain shut for a total of 11 days in the month of October. These 11 days include weekends i.e. Saturdays and Sundays. While the first day of the month is Sunday, the second day is October 2 - the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Gandhi Jayanti is one of the three national holidays of India. On this occasion, government offices, schools and other such educational institutes remain closed.

Yes, the stock market will remain closed today i.e. on October 2. This means trading across the equity, equity derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) segments will be unavailable tomorrow.

Stock Market Dussehra Holiday

After October 2, the stock market will remain closed for trading on October 24 - on the occasion of Dussehra. 

In the previous session on September 29, the domestic equity indices scaled higher amid advances in banks and metal companies. On the other hand, a fall in information technology stocks was seen after the IT bellwether Accenture predicted a downbeat year as spending stays weak.

At close, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 320.09 points, or 0.49 per cent, at 65,828.41, and the NSE Nifty was up 114.75 points, or 0.59 per cent, at 19,638.3.
