Provident Fund Withdrawal: Are you in need of money because of the tight liquidity situation and your income sources are thinning because of the coronavirus pandemic? If you have Provident Fund (PF) money intact in your account, then there is some very good news for you. Amid the crisis, the government has allowed up to 75% withdrawal of money lying in your PF account. And you can do that without much fuss even with your mobile phone.

So take the opportunity of withdrawing up to 75 per cent of PF money or three months of salary, whichever is lower if you are in a dire situation and need money urgently. PF withdrawal requests can now be submitted online by subscribers.

To withdraw PF money all you need is a smartphone. Just download the government's e-governance mobile App - UMANG. No need for a laptop or a separate broadband connection.

Developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and National e-Governance Division (NeGD), UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) is envisaged to drive e-governance and Mobile Governance in India.

UMANG service has been made available on multiple channels like mobile application, web, IVR and SMS which can be accessed through smartphones, feature phones, tablets and desktops.

How to apply for PF Withdrawal:

-- Download the Umang app
-- Go to the 'Search' menu and look for EPFO option
-- Choose ‘Employee Centric’, click ‘Raise Claim’ and enter EPF UAN number
-- Enter the OTP that is sent to your phone number, choose the type of withdrawal and submit through Umang
-- A claim reference number will be sent to you and you can use this to track the status of your claim
