How to check your National Pension Scheme balance without using the Umang app
You need to make a monthly contribution of at least Rs 500 for an NPS Tier I account and at least Rs 1,000 each month for an NPS Tier II account.
The National Pension Scheme (NPS) is one of the premier ways for citizens in India to start building their retirement nest. First launched by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority in 2004, the NPS allows individuals between the ages of 18 to 60 to make annual contributions towards their retirement savings. The accumulated savings along with their generated interest and returns can then be withdrawn post-retirement. You need to make a monthly contribution of at least Rs 500 for an NPS Tier I account and at least Rs 1,000 each month for an NPS Tier II account. You can check the balance of your NPS accounts at any moment using several channels, including the Umang app.
Here are some ways to check your NPS balance to better plan your retirement.
Through the NSDL Portal
To access your National Pension System (NPS) account balance through the NSDL portal, visit the official website of the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL).
TRENDING NOW
Once you're on the NSDL website, proceed to log in using your Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN) as your user ID, your account password, and the captcha code provided on the portal.
Upon successful login, navigate to the 'Transaction Statement' section and click on the 'Holding Statement' option. The portal will then display your NPS account balance on the screen.
Through the NSDL Mobile Application
For those who prefer mobile access, download the NSDL mobile application from a link available on the official NSDL website.
Once you've installed the app, follow the same login steps to access your NPS account. After logging in, the app will provide you with a comprehensive view of your total NPS holdings, including details of your investments in both Tier I and Tier II accounts.
Through SMS
Alternatively, checking your NPS account balance can be as simple as sending an SMS from your registered mobile number.
To do this, just give a missed call to 9212993399 from the mobile number linked to your NPS account. Shortly after, you will receive an SMS on the same number containing crucial information about your NPS account balance.
