Mutual Funds: AUM, net inflows, Equity schemes, hybrid schemes to income schemes to gold ETF, IDBI Capital decodes trends

Mutual Funds in December: AUM of the mutual fund industry increased by 3.4% MoM (Rs 1.01 Lakh Cr) to Rs31 Lakh Cr in December 2020. On a QoQ basis, the total AUM of Mutual Funds increased by 15.5%. Average AUM (AAUM) of the Mutual Fund industry increased by 3.8% MoM. On a QoQ basis, the Total AAUM increased by 11.6%. In Dec 2020 net inflow from the industry was at Rs 2968 Cr as against net inflow of Rs 27194 Cr in Nov 2020.

Growth / Equity Oriented Schemes:

AUM of Equity Oriented Schemes increased by 5.44% (Rs 48308 Cr) to Rs. 9.36 Lakh Cr in Dec 2020. Further it registered net outflow of Rs 13121 Cr as against net outflow of Rs 13004Cr in Nov 2020. AUM of Multi Cap, Large Cap, Mid Cap, Small Cap & ELSS increased by 4.85%, 5.35%, 3.42%, 5.78% & 6.15% respectively; these categories registered net outflow in Dec 2020. Funds mobilized from 9 newly launched Open-ended schemes (Large Cap, Small Cap, Div Yield Fund, Value Fund & Sectoral Thematic Fund ) were to the tune of Rs 7586 Cr.

Hybrid Schemes:

AUM of hybrid Schemes increased by 2.3 % (Rs 7000 Cr) to Rs 3.17 Lakh Cr in Dec 2020. Further its registered net outflow of Rs 5932Cr as against outflow of Rs 5249 Cr in Nov 2020. AUM of Arbitrage Fund decreased by 0.9% in Dec 2020. Further its registered net outflow of Rs 770 Cr. Funds mobilized from 1 newly launched Open-ended schemes (Aggressive Hybrid Fund) were to the tune of Rs 408 Cr.

Income / Debt Oriented Schemes :

AUM of Income/Debt funds increased by 1.28% MoM basis; these categories witnessed net inflow of Rs 13846 Cr in Dec 2020. AUM of Liquid funds increased by 1.6% MoM; these categories witnessed net inflows of Rs 5104 Cr; while AUM of Gilt Fund decreased by 7.45% MoM. Further it registered net outflow of Rs 1736 Cr in Dec 2020. Funds mobilized from 1 newly launched Open-ended schemes (Banking & PSU Fund ) were to the tune of Rs 548 Cr.

Other Schemes:

AUM of Gold ETF increased by 7.05% MoM ; further its registered net inflow of Rs 431Cr.
AUM of Other ETFs decreased by 9.66% MoM ; further its registered net inflow of Rs 6832 Cr.
AUM of FOF Investing Overseas increased by 18.6% MoM and registered net inflow of Rs 1039 Cr.
Funds mobilized from 3 newly launched Open-ended schemes (Other ETFs 1 & FOF 2) were to the tune of Rs 497 Cr.
