SBI NFC Debit Card: The State Bank of India (SBI) gives the opportunity to its customers to make contactless payments with NFC enabled Debit Cards. Recently, the largest bank of the country has tweeted from its official Twitter handle regarding the NFC enabled Debit Cards. The tweet said, "Make safety your priority. Choose to make contactless payments with NFC enabled Debit Cards."

The SBI has advised its customers to choose for this NFC enabled Debit Card during physical payments. The NFC or Near-field communication is a facility available in selected SBI Debit Cards which can be enabled or disabled via Internet Banking. One can make contactless payments with the Tap and Pay feature at the POS machine.

According to sbicard.com, one must note that the NFC is a method of wirelessly transmitting data using radio waves. Tap to Pay uses NFC to wirelessly transmit payment data to payment terminals with NFC readers that have been activated for use. The payment information is transmitted in an encrypted format making the transaction completely secure. SBI Card Pay uses the NFC technology to make a contactless payment that is carried out by using a smartphone at NFC enabled Point of Sale (POS) machines. It must be noted that an SBI customer can transact up to Rs 10,000 in a day (max. capping of up to Rs 2,000 per transaction)

In order to enable and disable NFC, one has to follow some simple steps. One has to go to SBI e-services and then to ATM Card Devices. From there, an SBI customer can enable and disable from the options ATM Card Limit/ Channel/ Usage Change.

This option of contactless transaction during this COVID-19 pandemic is going to benefit the SBI customers to a great extent.
