End of 'Twitter for iPhone' label? Elon Musk to remove device label from tweets

While sharing the information the social media platform, Elon Musk tweeted: "And we'll finally stop adding what device a tweet was written on (waste of screen space & compute) below every tweet. Literally, no one even knows why we did that." Using these markers, Twitter claims, "helps you better understand how a Tweet was posted."

This feature has been used to expose Android brand advocates tweeting from competing for iOS devices.

In a major update, Twitter CEO Elon Musk has confirmed on the micro-blogging platform that Twitter will stop adding labels that identify the type of device used for tweeting. Device label used to show from which device the tweet has been tweeted. For example - if a tweet is shared from an Android device then it shows "Tweeted from Android" and for iPhones, it shows "Tweeted from iPhone".

Twitter's help site stated that: "This additional information provides context about the Tweet and its author.". It adds, "If you don't recognise the source, you might want to find out more about the content.". In addition, this feature has been used to expose Android brand advocates tweeting from competing for iOS devices.

Recently, Musk confirmed that Twitter will soon allow organisations to identify their associated accounts. In a tweet, Musk said: "Rolling out soon, Twitter will enable organisations to identify which other Twitter accounts are actually associated with them."

Several users expressed their thoughts on the post. While one commented "eventually we'll be asking, what can't Twitter do? Looking forward to exciting things", another user asked: "Will any user be able to create an organisation? Or will Twitter be the arbiter of what constitutes an organisation."

"Ultimately, I think there is no choice but for Twitter to be the final arbiter, but I'm open to suggestions," Musk replied. After facing a barrage of fake profiles with verified badges, Musk recently said that the $8 Blue subscription service, pulled back by the company after facing strong criticism, was likely to be back soon.
