WhatsApp mute shortcut: WhatsApp, one of the most widely used messaging application around the world, is reportedly working on a mute shortcut for group chats for a future update of WhatsApp Desktop beta. According to a report, the mute shortcut will display at the top of group chats and will help users to disable notifications of messages received in the group.
The meta-owned messaging platform increased the number of people that can join a group up to 1024 participants and sub-groups for WhatsApp Communities. "For this reason, WhatsApp is now working on a mute shortcut for group chats, available in a future update of WhatsApp Desktop beta," WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp, reported.
As per the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, a mute shortcut will show up within the header of group chats: thanks to this shortcut, it will be easier to disable notifications of messages received in the group.

Please note that WhatsApp has released the ability to automatically disable notifications for large groups on WhatsApp beta for Android two weeks ago so you can understand that they care about reducing the number of notifications you receive from group chats every day.
The mute shortcut for group chats is under development and it will be released in a future update of WhatsApp Desktop beta. Meanwhile, the messaging platform had rolled out a new feature to some beta testers that allow users to see profile photos within group chats on a desktop. the feature helps users to identify group members for which they don't have the phone number or when they have the same name.
WhatsApp is also rolling out a new feature that lets some beta testers forward images, videos, GIFs, and documents, with a caption, on WhatsApp Desktop beta.
"Thanks to this feature, you can keep the caption of your images, videos, GIFs, and documents, while the forwarding process. The feature has also released on iOS beta after installing the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.23.0.72 update and it is finally available to some beta testers that install the latest version of WhatsApp Desktop beta," WABetaInfo reported.
