Erica Griffin, who is also a reviewer, voiced her concerns about iPhone overheating.
"Both of my clean install iPhone15 Pro Max units heat up to excessive temperatures when using the notes app," she wrote on microblogging site X (formerly Twitter)
The plot thickens… both of my clean install #iPhone15ProMax units are heating up to stupid temperatures when just using the notes app. So I tried the same on my iPhone 13 Mini. It’s getting hot too! The Mini is on 17.0 and the 15 Pros on 17.0.2. Clearly, something wrong with iOS

While several people have been blaming the new A17 Pro SoC for the issues, noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities stated that the overheating issues could be because of some "compromises" in the design of the thermal system.
"My survey indicates that the iPhone 15 Pro series overheating issues are unrelated to TSMC’s advanced 3nm node. The primary cause is more likely the compromises made in the thermal system design to achieve a lighter weight, such as the reduced heat dissipation area and the use of a titanium frame, which negatively impacts thermal efficiency," he said.
