Oppo Find N quick review: It looks like the foldable smartphone market will play an aggressive role this year as many smartphone brands are now working on foldable technology and smartphones. While Samsung is already doing phenomenally well in the smartphone market globally, including India with its foldable phone, the Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has taken a step forward to give some competition to Samsung in this category with the launch of its first foldable smartphone -- Oppo Find N.
At present, Oppo has not yet revealed its availability and pricing in India. But in China, the 8GB+256GB variant is priced at Chinese Yuan 7699 (around Rs 92,000) and the (12GB+512GB) model will be available at Chinese Yuan 8999 (around Rs 1,07,552.72). When it comes to foldable technology in this smartphone segment, I can say that Oppo has done a phenomenal job here with its Find N smartphone. With the right pricing in India, this smartphone has the ability to outclass Samsung foldable smartphones -- Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Fold 3. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G 12+256GB model is priced at Rs 1,49,999 (starting). I have used both Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 and I have to say that Oppo has taken the foldable technology to a whole new level. At first look, you are going to fall in love with the Oppo Find N.
The design looks beautiful, and the rear camera module placement is also looking beautiful. This size of the smartphone is decent (smaller than Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3). This foldable device looks gorgeous in hands. The device uses a 3D-curved design on both outer edges of the device to improve the hand feels and maintain a sleek look. The back cover and rear camera module has a fluid curve design. The Find N is built from premium materials such as glass and aluminum but it easily attracts fingerprint marks. The Oppo Find N includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that is housed in the power button, as well as a dual speaker system and Dolby Atmos support.
This foldable smartphone from Oppo comes with an immersive 7.1-inch inner display and a 5.49-inch outer display and it offers a full smartphone experience. With 7.1-inch inner display (tablet like mode) you can can watch videos, play games or read books easily. When folded, the 18:9 aspect ratio gives users a full, familiar smartphone experience with a display that is easy to use with one hand. The 7.1-inch inner display of the Find N offers a 60 per cent larger visual area than a standard 6.5-inch display, creating a more immersive experience and more possibilities for software innovations in usage scenarios like multitasking and productivity. This foldable phone from Oppo has ultra-thin glass over the OLED panel and the ‘Flexion' hinge.
Oppo has developed a special mechanism that allows the two halves of the Find N to sit flush against each other, thereby eliminating gaps so dust and dirt can't easily get through. The hinge also allows for greater tolerance where the display actually folds, so you will not see any crease when you open this fold from. On the right side, the Oppo Find N has a volume rocker on the right side and power button onn the left edge. At the bottom, there's a SIM tray option, USB Type-C port, speaker, and mic. The connectivity options on the Oppo Find N include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, GPS, Bluetooth v5.15. Overall, the looks of this foldable smartphone are premium and appealing. It will attract buyers' attention.
In terms of camera performance. the Oppo Find N on the rear packs a triple camera setup featuring a 50MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture; a 16MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture, and a 13MP camera with an f/2.4 aperture. The rear camera setup has autofocus. It has a single front camera setup for selfies, featuring a 32-MP sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. While taking photos. I felt that viewing pictures on the 7.1-inch display gives you a better idea. With the larger screen, you will be able to find a better frame and focus on the subject. The triple rear cameras of the Oppo Find N did manage to capture beautiful and sharp pictures in various light conditions. Selfies clicked from Oppo Find 3 were sharp and colorful when we compare it with other Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G. While taking pictures and recording videos, I didn't face any issues. Overall, the device did produce nice and clear images under direct sunlight, bright light as well as low light conditions.
The display is the main USP of the handset. It is bright enough to use outdoors as well as indoors. The smartphone is made for those who love watching videos on bigger devices but do not want to carry tablets with them. During the review, we used the smartphone to stream YouTube videos, specifically while travelling in the Metro, and the device didn't disappoint us. We found camera performance impressive in various lights. The low-light performance was good and was capable of producing bright images using a dedicated night mode. Also, A new split-camera user interface gives an ability to use the large, immersive inner display to efficiently take photos on one side and then view, share or delete the most recent photo on the other side.
In terms of performance, the smartphone comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Mobile Platform, together with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Initially we can say that the performance looks convincing because we were not able to use the phone for multitasking because the review unit came without a play store or any services used by Indian users. In terms of battery performance, the smartphone brand is giving 4,500mAh battery with 33W SUPERVOOC Flash Charge. The Oppo Find N also comes with 15W AIRVOOC wireless charging (compatible with standard Qi) and 10W reverse wireless charging. The device lasted for more than a day on a full charge.
Oppo Find N Verdict: Oppo Find N is not yet available in the Indian market. As of now, all I can say is this foldable smartphone from Oppo has all the right ingredients and the right pricing in India can play a major role in the success of the Oppo Find N in our country, Overall, this foldable device has done an impressive job here with amazing design and powerful cameras
