Facebook's new 360-degree photo feature now let's you get the complete picture

Facebook has taken a 360-degree look at photos. On Thursday it introduced a feature called a 360 Photos worldwide in which viewers can create 360-degree panoramic photos.

Introducing the new feature on Facebook, CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted a 360-degree photo taken of Manhattan taken from the top One World Trade Centre and said, "The big difference with 360 photos is you can take them with your phone. Just take a panorama or use a 360 camera app, then post it to Facebook and we'll take care of the rest."

He further explained, "These are similar to 360 videos -- you can tilt your phone and feel like you're actually there. You can also check them out in virtual reality for a fully immersive experience."

While creating 360-degree videos still require a specialised camera which can be quite expensive, the 360 degree photos can be created much more easily.

The move comes at a time when Facebook had increasingly adopting 360 degree videos from the beginning of last year.
