Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ prices in India slashed by 13-17%; here’s big reason why

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ have been available in India since March 2017, however, the company launched S9 and S9+ smartphones last month and this has led to price cuts in the other variants.

Samsung Electronics, one of the largest smartphone makers in India, has slashed rates of its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ models, following the launch of a new Galaxy S-series namely Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ have been available in India since March 2017, however, the company in order to further boost its Galaxy S flagship had launched higher versions last month. As a result Samsung effected price cuts in S8 models and these were in the range of a whopping 13% to 17% in the country.

An NDTV Gadget 360 report mentioned that, Samsung has informed its offline retail partners of the new prices, which are now also reflecting on the company's online store. Reportedly, now Samsung Galaxy S8 in 64GB variant is priced at Rs 49,990 - down by Rs 7,910 or 13.66% compared to the previous market price of Rs 57,900. While the Galaxy S8+ in similar memory storage has seen a steep cut of Rs 10,910 or 16.81% and is now sold at Rs 53,900 as against previous price of Rs 64,900.

Further the company, which had also launched a 128GB variant of Galaxy S8+ at a massive price of Rs 75,000, has also seen a reduction in its price. Now, this variant is priced at Rs 64,900 down by Rs 10,100 or 13.46% versus its previous market price.

The Samsung Galaxy S8+ and the Galaxy Note 8 have displays with a 6.2 inch and 6.3 inch, with the same Snapdragon 835 2.35GHz plus 1.9GHz octa-core processor each.

As for camera, both the S8 and S8+ pack a 12-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 8-megapixel front shooter for selfies. They run on Android 7.0 with 3000mAh non removable batteries.
