The Enforcement Directorate's recent search at 6 premises of Manappuram Finance Limited and its MD VP Nandakumar has sent the company’s shares into a tailspin. The ED has frozen Rs 143 crore and detected evidence of money laundering and large-scale cash transactions through public deposits.
Shares of Manappuram Finance tanked 10 per cent and were locked in the lower circuit of Rs 107.35 apiece in the opening deals on Friday, May 5, 2023.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted search operations at several premises linked to Non-Banking Finance Company (NBFC) Manappuram Finance in Kerala. Official sources said that this raid against the company has been done in connection with the investigation related to money laundering.
The report further said the searches were conducted at the company's promoters' premises too. It is alleged that the company raised funds without RBI's approval.
