IHS Markit`s July final manufacturing Purchasing Managers` Index only nudged up to 55.1 from June`s 18-month low of 54.9, unchanged from an initial reading and still comfortably above the 50 level that separates growth from contraction.

General Index for the month of August 2017 stands at 121.5, which is 4.3% higher as compared to the level in the month of August 2016. The cumulative growth for the period April-August 2017 over the corresponding period of the previous year stands at 2.2%.

At 47.9 in July, down from 50.9 in June, the Nikkei India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index® (PMI® ) was at its lowest mark since February 2009 and highlighted the first deterioration in business conditions in 2017 so far, IHS Markit said in a statement on Tuesday.
