The US unemployment rate fell to a nine-year low of 4.6% in November, as employers added another 178,000 jobs, making it almost certain that the US Federal Reserve will raise interest rates later this month.

US stocks advanced on Friday as a weaker-than-expected payrolls report tamped down expectations for a September rate hike from the US Federal Reserve, although hawkish comments from another Fed official kept expectations for one this year intact.
US employment growth slowed more than expected in August after two straight months of robust gains and wages were tepid, which could effectively rule out an interest rate increase from the US Federal Reserve this month.
