Biryani most-ordered dish on Zomato in 2023, followed by pizza: Report

Zomato users ordered the most biryani in 2023, the online food platform said on Monday. As per Zomato's yearly ordering trends report, over 10.09 crore biryani orders were placed on the platform in 2023, enough to fill eight Qutub Minars in Delhi.

Biryani was also the most-ordered dish on Swiggy for the ninth consecutive year. In 2023, India ordered 2.5 biryanis per second. According to the food delivery platform, one veg biryani was requested for every 5.5 chicken biryanis.

On Zomato, biryani was followed by pizza, which received over 7.45 crore orders in 2023, covering an area larger than five Eden Gardens cricket stadiums.

Noodle bowls, which came in third place, had nearly 4.55 crore orders, which was enough to wrap the circumference of the earth 22 times, according to the delivery giant.

In 2023, Bengaluru had the most breakfast orders on Zomato, while Delhi had the most late-night orders.

According to the study, the company's largest order of the year came from Bengaluru, where a user placed a single transaction worth Rs 46,273.
