Kite Festival 2023 Gujarat: The International Kite Festival kicked off on January 8 in Ahmedabad. The festival will continue till January 14. A total of 68 countries are participating in the event. This includes Australia, Canada, France, Russia, Germany, Greece, Israel, Egypt, Colombia, Denmark, New Zealand, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, South Africa, Belgium, Bahrain, Iraq and Malaysia among others.
Kite Festival 2023 Gujarat: Don’ts
- Don’t fly kite near power lines.
- Do not try to get the kite down yourself.
- Some power lines carry extremely high voltages. Kite string or kites can become conductors of electricity.
- Never fly a kite during an approaching storm or in rain, as a wet line will conduct electricity.
- Avoid flying in air traffic patterns close to airports
- Do not use blades or pointed objects on a kite or line.
- Do not throw heavy objects at an entrapped kite.
- Don’t use chines manja.
Kite Festival 2023 Gujarat: Do’s
- During festivals like "Makarsankranti", bird rescue centres/camps are organized to treat birds injured during kite flying. One should be aware about the contact details of rescue centres, and veterinary doctors. Care should also be taken during kite flying to avoid bird injuries.
- Use government approved Manja.
- Always observe local air safety regulations.
- Wear gloves when flying large kites
