Sri Lanka has been a far better side than Australia in batting. With the hitting prowess of Kusal Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, and Pathum Nissanka, the Lankan side has put up 320+ runs in both matches. However, in the absence of their experienced frontline bowlers, Sri Lanka has been vulnerable with their bowling and leaked runs -- costing them matches. Their bowling department has conceded 775 runs in their first two matches, and if they want to win matches, this is the part where they have to put most of the work in.

What makes matters worse is that their captain, Dasun Shanaka, has been ruled out of the tournament due to a thigh injury, with Chamika Karunaratne coming in as his replacement. Kusal Mendis will be taking over the captaincy role from now on.
