Sugar Export ban: Government's step towards curbing rising food inflation

The Centre has extended the ban on sugar exports by a year till October 31, 2023, to ensure a check on the domestic prices and their availability in the country. The move is being seen as a step towards curbing rising food inflation. In May this year, the government banned sugar exports with effect from June 1 till October 31, 2022, after the prices had surged exponentially.
