In a shift of positions, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has regained its status as the most valued listed public sector undertaking (PSU) by market capitalisation, surpassing State Bank of India (SBI). As of Jan 17, LIC reached a market cap of Rs 5.64 lakh crore, exceeding SBI's Rs 5.63 lakh crore.

State Bank of India, the country`s largest lender by assets, reported a record quarterly profit on Wednesday.
Lot of action in the US markets as S&P makes a new record while Dow and Nasdaq were up by 278 points and 80 points respectively. Meanwhile SGX Nifty was at 16,200 also up. Dow Futures were down 50 points and Nikkei was down by 100 points.
Ahead of its quarterly earnings today, the brokerages expect India’s largest lender — State Bank of India to report robust and strong first-quarter results of the financial year 2021-22 year-on-year.
At the stock markets, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange shot up 872.73 points, or 1.65 per cent, to end at an all-time high of 53,823.36, on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. The Nifty 50 spurted 245.60 points, or 1.55 per cent, to a record high of 16,130.75.
