Mercedes-Benz rolls out Made-in-India GLC; price starts at Rs 47.90 lakh

The local production of the GLC takes it to 9 cars in India and makes the company the largest locally producing luxury brand in India.

Mercedes Benz on Thursday rolled out its first ‘Made-in-India’ GLC from the company’s plant in Chakan, Pune. The GLC was launched in June this year and dubbed as ‘Edition 1’.

The local production of the GLC takes it to 9 cars in India and makes the company the largest locally producing luxury brand in India. The company’s local production includes the E Class, followed by the S Class and C Class at this plant.

The GLC is available in petrol and diesel variants and is now priced at Rs 90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the 300 Sport variant and the 220d Style and the 220d Sports is priced at Rs 47.90 lakh and Rs 51.50 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), respectively.

The GLC 300 petrol is powered by a 1991 cc four-cylinder unit which gives out a power of 245bhp and 370Nm torque. The 220d, on the other hand, comes with 2143cc four-cylinder diesel motor that produces 170bhp and 400Nm torque.

The local production of the GLC will be the car makers first SUV in India.

The GLC rivals the Audi Q5 and the BMW X3.
