Stock market holiday: Will BSE, NSE remain closed on May 1? Read on to find out

Stock market holidays in May 2023: Indian equity benchmark BSE Sensex and Nifty50 trade flat with negative bias on the last session of the April month dragged by banking, and financials such as Axis Bank, and Bajaj Finserv as investors perhaps unhappy with their March quarter earnings released on Thursday.

Stock market holidays in May 2023: There will be no action on the bourses on Monday, May 1. Both the leading exchanges NSE and will BSE will remain closed on account of Maharashtra Day as per the holiday calendar available on the BSE. As per the BSE, the Equity Segment, Equity Derivative Segment and SLB Segment as well as the Currency Derivatives Segment and Interest Rate Derivatives segments will also remain shut on May 1.

Maharashtra Day commemorates the formation of the state in India on May 1, 1960, from the division of the Bombay State.Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited (MCX) will also remain closed for trading in the morning sessions i.e., 9 AM to 5 PM. However, India's first listed exchange will remain open for the evening session i.e., 5 PM to 11:30 PM /11:55 PM.
